What your child gains
Watermelon & Cheese is a great ice-breaking activity. Children colour their own stones first, then use them to play a fun game of tic-tac-toe, so the game they play is one they made themselves. It fits in a small bag, so it goes wherever you go.
It is a game for two players. Adults can help during the painting stage; once the stones are dry, the bag becomes an X and O board.
What your child builds
- Artistic skills and sharper observation
- Better focus and attention
- Pride in a game they created, which becomes part of who they are
How it plays at every age
- Ages 3–6: children learn the basics: taking turns and forming patterns, which builds pattern recognition, early strategic thinking and fine motor skills.
- Ages 6–9: children fully understand strategies such as blocking an opponent and planning their next move.
- Ages 9–12: the game stays simple, and becomes a quick, enjoyable strategy challenge.
- Ages 12–16: older children can guide younger players while still enjoying the game themselves.
